Believe it or not Moles have their beneficial role in the ecosystem too and a right to go about their lives. It’s us with our desire for perfect lawns etc that are disturbing them. We get them coming up in the greenhouse, usually where I have planted something. It is annoying but I just replant and carry on….

As the number of red kites in this area increased following their reintroduction, I hoped that magpie numbers might decrease, but no, they are still around in very large numbers.
Red kites are generally to be seen here whenever one looks up, with 10/12 swirling widely overhead when neighbours put our chicken carcasses etc. It’s always a joy when one flashes down for roadkill then soars away just in front when driving, the gorgeous plumage showing beautifully.

I'll probably shoot them , they make bigger holes than moles ! Oh? Whatever happened to the 'live and let live' philosophy? Been dead for a while now.
