Ahhh, that’s very nice, Mysty - hopefully s/he’ll be able to transfer to new people in what will be his/her new home. Unless, of course, you’ll both have fallen in love with the little ginger beauty by then………….

Would have kept him if we were home most of the time but we often go away for a couple of weeks at a time for work or drive off to view houses. He is very independent but could do with a lot of attention to show him how good life can be. He will be a good mouser.

Still alive it can now hiss and meeyaoo and it takes food from your hand. Takes food from your hand! Brilliant - you've done so well to gain confidence in such a short space of time. Personally I wouldn't try to touch him yet. the kitten will go limp when you take a grip on the scruff of its neck. Mother cats carry them around by picking them up there, so instinctively they don't resist. That's clever. But I'd be worried about frightening him off. If this isn't successful, You could borrow a cage from a local refuge, put food in then it shuts automatically once he's in there. It does shock them which isn't nice but it's being cruel to be kind.

It does shock them which isn't nice but it's being cruel to be kind. For some reason, it doesn't seem to phase them, as if they have a trust response to being picked up in that way. It even extends into adulthood. Of course, a gentle stroke when you release the hold can soothe them a little too. When they're that little the grip only needs to be between thumb and forefinger at the base of the skull. The 'cage' with the automatic door you suggest is in fact a trap and when we had a family of 4 to catch they certainly inspired huge suspicion and it took quite a few days to catch all four. With just one to catch is should be far easier.

I put an ad on FB about an hour ago and have two people who say they would have him or her. Probably gone on Monday.

Oops... One must be careful when letting the kitten rest on an item of clothing. It will attach itself to the person from the scent of the person who wears the clothing. This applies to puppies as well.
