I couldn't read this.Although it said I had 2 free articles remaining I couldn't access the above. Sounds like good news. Just yesterday I had a message from EDF to say I need to contact them about increasing monthly payments. I pay for gas and electricity together. Do you recall if the offer covered gas as well, gigi?

Thank you, Elsie.
Trying it out by hitting the button seems a good idea, see what savings might be available.

I have signed up, it seemed a no brainer for me, same monthly as EDF and 2 cents cheaper per KWh, goes active on 11 Nov and have 14 days to cancel, and fixed for 2 years
TY for the tip

Having read most of the details of their offer I have concluded that savings may well exist for some customers but in our case we are unable to benefit. Although the second of the options available give the usual HP/HC choice , it matches the EDF prices. The advertised savings seem to come from a customer reducing the starting estimate, or historic usage and getting a bonus reduction. We have already chosen EDF’s Tempo price regime which suits our pattern of use. I think that the biggest attraction is the two year fixed price which should be a great deal. I am not swayed by Octopus’s “Green” and “From France” description of their offer but JD’s two cent reduction would swing it for me.

It’s nearer three cents actually……and the main reason for me was the two year fix
It’s a limited number of customers, so if you are interested, don’t dilly dally
Also, I am with Octopus in the UK and I find them very pleasant to deal with……

Thanks for that. It looks good but I can't take advantage because I have both gas and electricity supplied by EDF. Still thinking about changing to pompe à chaleur if I could get impartial advice.

It looks good but I can't take advantage because I have both gas and electricity supplied by EDF. You can change .. both gaz/elec or just the electric part to octopus as long as you use a minimum of 3000Kwh per year of electricity.

Just be aware that by taking the offer, you are playing the market. 2 years fixed sounds good against the background of the last 2 years where world prices doubled and even in France have gone up something like 25% from memory and due too go up again in the new year.
But energy prices are now falling in the world market even with OPEC's attempts to keep them high. Where will they be in 2 years time? I would not care to guess. Too much going on to make a bold guess - pushing prices up: wars - Ukraine, Gaza; OPEC; strong growth in US; EDF losses pulling prices down: weak growth in China and Europe ( not just EU); slow but inexorable move to renewables leaving markets more free from the pushing prices up factors
Today it looks as if the upward pressures look to be the stronger but it could all change before the start of 2024 let alone the end of your contract.

I double checked this, and if I have translated correctly, I see...... ARTICLE 14: TERMINATION 14.1 Termination of the Contract by the Client..... The Client may terminate the Contract at any time and without penalty.

Que choisir? and Octopus have got together on this offer: Thanks for this gigi .. I signed up last night after much reflection. As Johnny correctly says .. the offer can be cancelled at any point in time - even before the transfer to Octopus has taken place if you change your mind in a couple of days time.

i hope it works out well for you, Sue and others who’ve taken up the offer - I can’t see it not working out well, but after last year, just about anything can happen.
It’s always a gamble when deciding which energy company to use. It was pure luck that I took a 2 year fix up to 24/09/23 with Octopus in the UK, which turned out to be an excellent choice due to such awful rises in energy costs last year. It could have been very different, as it was for so many people.
I took a 1 year fix with Octopus from September this year, as a few companies offered fixes again, and as I’ve been happy with Octopus for several years it was an easy decision.
We don’t use enough electricity in France now to take up this offer with Que Choisir?, but if eligible would have done so as soon as I’d read the details.
I applaud Octopus’ push for renewables, and have invested in a renewable energy co-operative with Ripple, in which Octopus are involved in a big way.
Johnny D, did you take part in Octopus’ energy-saving sessions last winter?

My OH said that it worked out more expensive for us. He said he put in our Linky details and access was granted for the Company to work it out for us. Disclaimer: I haven't checked that he did it correctly. We have heures creuse/plein at 12kw.
