Thanks Sue56, tried your instructions and it worked ! Although now I will have to reduce the size of many of my photos to fit I don't think it was me .. but whoever it was then they were right 😊 Message to all .. Please, please in all your photos make sure they use as little data as possible .. as the forum is constantly teetering v close to our data limit. I delete (old) photos regularly to keep us within our 'free forum' limit.

We’ve been here nearly 10 years now. I’ve been back to the U.K. several times this year to check how my 100 year old mum is - not too good these days. I hate being in london. It’s smelly, everyone is rushing about, no one says please or thank you. I usually stay in a nice hotel but have rarely come across staff in the restaurant with any form of customer service and if you want bread that’s another £4! Everything is incredibly expensive.
When I describe the French health system to the minicar and taxi drivers it’s quite funny. The general perception is that French healthcare isn’t as good as the nhs and it’s very expensive. I then explain how I’ve been treated by my gp, consultants, immediate X-ray and scan reports etc and inpatient hospital treatment. I then remind them that they pay tax and national insurance in the U.K. so it’s not actually free in reality. It always goes quiet then the penny drops. You’re right, it’s the brainwashing that there’s nothing like the nhs. It’s also understandable. If I hadn’t had experience of a different healthcare system I wouldn’t have known the difference either.

I think people started using "muppet" as a put down years ago. It serves to express a negative image when needed and is less likely to stir up the PC or woke brigade when describing politicians or other such hopeless incompetent jokes.

No regrets in moving to France however the long cold Winters with 'France et ferme' syndrome and growing health issues meant that after 11 years we felt that Spain was a better place for us and 5+ years on no regrets on making that move.
I do sometimes miss the greenery of France but that's about it.

I was going to post this in What Are You Reading, but the word ‘Greenery’ caught my eye. At this moment I am reading The Road to Little Dribbling at the point where Bryson slates this guy. www.lse.ac.uk/geography-and-environment/people/academic-staff/paul-cheshireI expect many of you are aware how keen the academic world is about not skewing data. BB writes quite extensively as to how skewed the Professors’s findings are on the subject of the ratio of houses to the number of golf courses in Surry. In the spirit of Estate Agency, I will probably add a bit more later. edit I notice on his CV that he was 2015 International assessor for Productivity Commission of New Zealand’s report on Using Land for Housing Oh dear. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
