First time ever on a French forum Have you ever regretted to have moved to France ? I am 62 next year. I feel I have lived here all my life. Well it is half my life…but who is counting. Do I have regrets some but not a lot. Would I do it again…..who knows.

Thirty one years next June we have lived here but add another five years as owners of an apartment, do we regret it, no. Sure we have had difficult times which many of us do have. We have lived in three regions and five departments. We are as happy now as were when we first bought in Provence. We went to the UK in November, it was wonderful meeting many old friends in a get together in Sunbury on Thames. Thing is we never left the UK due to anything being wrong with it, although Thatchers term leading to John Majors era wasn't to our liking but there you go. So no we have never regretted our move, even through the difficult years we managed to get through OK and now find ourselves in comfortable retirement.

Been here since 2005 - I did feel I missed things in the early days but not now. When I go back it doesn’t feel like home or that familiar anymore e.g supermarkets, but here does….may be that my French is a lot better and my mum died a good few years back and there is no family home anymore….

The only regret was not taking citizenship earlier.

Only regret that now l am here there i need to do more travelling. France and Europe has a lot more to offer. My previous homeland was excellent but it’s a big world with different choices.

No regrets for me either, after living here since 9/11. I do miss a good takeaway curry though.
Difficulties, yes. Hard work, yes. But nothing like living in UK was without employment.

Although we are now back in the UK we never really regretted our move to France, it was a brilliant place to bring up the kids and we feel lucky to have been able to make the move so easily. It did help already having a home there as the kids had made friends with other kids in the village who went to the same primaire and college. Both schools were also very accommodating and gave the kids extra French lessons when their classes were doing English which meant they were fluent within a few months, I know UK schools wouldn't have done this.
There were obviously things that we struggled with but the benefits far outweighed the niggles.

No regrets moving to France.
A slight regret that through economic conditions I had to move to Germany due to Thatcher economics but we enjoyed our time there and had we not moved, would we now be in France? Probably not.

Been here 17 years and never regretted it. Quite the opposite. It's been life changing in a positive way.

The Thatcher witch has/had a lot to answer for. I fully agree with you. But I did make an insane amount of coin during that period.
