About 8am im back in bed after making coffee when I checked property alerts we get through of new property coming up for sale. By 8.30 I have spoken with the agent yes 8.30. Agreed to view the house at 14hr. almost a three hour drive but well worth it. The property was advertised at 13.500 which was cheap but they had a terrible picture just showiing it from the front. Got there fifteen mins early and already said we would be buying it, the position was picture postcard countryside and no traffic anywhere near it. Agent arrives and I send my minion to ask her about the price. She comes back and says they would take 10.000. We do out two minute walk about and offer 10000. On the drive home we get the call offer accepted, if they had asked for more I would have gone up in price. They think its a tip but its authentic and un touched. We will take the roof off the barn but the walls are perfect, i could sell that tomorrow but I cannot as it will take a couple of months to buy it.    Saved the best picture for the last one. It has a toilet and a couple if sinks but no kitchen just a table fridge and cooker. I find it sad now how they used to live. |

On my own I could live in such a place as an escape from my London apartment but I would not impose that life on my family. Just out of general interest: is there water and electricity either at the house or nearby, is there a lane leading to the buildings and how close is it to a good sized town?

The house is 5 minutes to a small village with the basics and just 30 mins to Issoire, I think spelt right dep 63 which has everything.
Road right up to the house, mains water and electricity connected.
In some cases if a house does not have water and electricity connected or available you can be refused a CU to be able to convertit or live in it.

It looks amazing to me. Why were they in such a hurry to sell? I would love to have found an 'authentic and untouched' house in such a setting and have had the money to fix it up. But for me half an hour to do the big shop/go for appointments/Cinema/concerts etc would be too much. I like driving less and less. Good job it doesn't worry you! Someone will fall in love with that house. Coup de coeur.

I never met them but most people would be worried about the barn coming down and if you don't have the money to fix it then it's time to sell. I would have thought they had inherited the house no one has lived there for a while. |

We did a toilet under the wooden staircase in the lounge come kitchen with no window or ventilation other than some drilled holes at the bottom of the door.
When I say toilet I mean just the toilet nothing else like a sink or anything 😃
