A friend needs to get back to the UK for a very brief but urgent 36 hours. He has not had any vaccines. He has no CdS but has applied for it and recieved the certificate of registration by e-mail and he does have the number of that. He has no hard copy though and has inadvertently deleted the e-mail. Do any of you know how he can access the attestation so he can print off a copy which will enable him to travel to the UK? He has spent hours (and on his behalf, so have I) trying to gain access but without success.
Many many thanks in anticipation of someone coming up trumps.

Hi Veem. Could your friend not get the email back from the deleted box on his email program.

He said he'd tried 'everything', so I suspect he looked in the deleted items but had unfortunately emptied the deleted folder.

So, as far as anyone knows, is the only way to retrieve the email from the Ministry of the Interior and print it off?
Is there no way to access it via a government website, given that he has the attestation number?

Is it possible to contact the sender of the email and ask them to resend it?

When you go through the process, you were given a code so that you could dip in and out of the process. If you still have a note of that code, and if it still functions once you have completed the process, there may be some hope.

A French resident British citizen does not need a carte de sèjour or une attestation d'enregistrement to return to or visit the UK.
The worst that could happen is that on their return their passport will be stamped & nobody will come chasing them out of France after 6 months.
The French border control officials even say "do you have a residence permit? If you do then we won't have to stamp your passport"
You should not let this matter prevent the person from returning to take care of their urgent needs.
They will run the theoretical risk that if France subsequently deems the UK to be a high Covid risk country then a French resident UK citizen without a carte de resident or attestation d'enregistrement could be refused entry although a more likely scenario would be a quarantine requirement, in the absence of said document there are other ways to prove your residence, its what the border officials have to contend with every day when peoples passports have been lost or stolen.

Lack of attestation aside, before he leaves France at the very least he will need to book and pay for a day 2 test in the UK (regardless of whether he takes it or not, given his short stay) in order to have the relevant code to put on the Passenger Locator Form - without that code, he won't be allowed to leave France, as I understand the current regulations.

If this is being dealt with by the Préfecture, can he not telephone and ask for help ?

Surely his problem will be the lack of vaccinations not lack of proof that he has applied for a CdS. Passengers from France are only considered to be on the Amber list if they are fully vaccinated.

Exactly. Whatever he needs to urgently do in the UK it has to be done from a position of isolation - which then begs the question of why it cannot be done here. I suspect I know the likely answer but it means he should not travel. The price of not being vaccinated - whether a voluntary choice or an imposed one.

His trip is to attend his daughter's wedding.
He has been told he only needs a negative test result from a test performed in France within hours of travel.
I have tried ringing the prefecture, but all I get is an extremely long and extremely rapid message. I tried the sous prefecture only to be told (repeatedly) that I had phoned the wrong place and should contact Angouleme.
I think he'll next try his mairie.
Thanks for your suggestions. If anyone has other advice, please post it. He will need to travel on September 3rd and return on 5th.
