I've done this many times for OH going to work, however, never for us as visitors. My question is what do you have to put in the bit for day 2 tests please? I'm asking because our daughter has a spare PCR kit and has sent me a photo with a bar code. Is that enough for the form? If not what else do I need? Thanks The picture I have is this: Attachments:

If your form accepts the code shown that’s enough. I think it will be the one under the barcode. The one I’ve seen recently was in this format, EUROF is the code for the release provider, EUROF2998643.

It has to be the approved code syntax I believe ours was something like EXMED0012345 , it used to be the only syntax the PLF would accept, I don’t know if that is still the case, we will find out again at the end of September

Can I do a mock PLF just to see beforehand if it's accepted?

Wouldn't the danger be that then when you come to do the real thing the computer doesn't accept an already inputed code?

We have completed our PLR forms for travel tomorrow. A bit long-winded. For information: We had to insert our Day 2 test package booking reference; which began with the 5 letters of the issuing company followed by 7 numbers in our case. We had to confirm that we had a negative test in the 72 hours before travel, but no further information required on this form. MOM2: All the way through the form it does say that you can save and return later. I'm not sure that it would 'throw out' a form if the reference for the Day 2 test wasnt valid, but you would be able to see how many digits the field could take (sorry, I forgot to check) but guess there should be space for more than 7 numbers. We thought, strangely, that it asks for the ship name you are arriving on, but we cannot find that on our booking with P & O, (but as you must insert something in that field, or it rejects we put in the one for the nearest sailing, as ours no longer appeared ). The form also says that if anything changes once the form has been submitted a new form must be submitted. Hope this helps.

Thanks LL, I will ask my daughter if there are any other details on the test kit. So as a previous poster suggested the ref would be UN3373? I just don't want to leave it to the last 24 hours before finding out this test isn't accepted. It should be as it was one of the kits given to my daughter when she worked in the Care Home. EDITED to add that I just googled that ref number and the UK Gov website says this : "Purpose of guidance Guidance to assist testing laboratories, or others involved in healthcare, in the transport of patient specimens suspected of containing Coronavirus (COVID-19), which has been classified as UN 3373 Biological Substance Category B." I think I will need the name of a company, or at least use the longer number on the barcode?

So as a previous poster suggested the ref would be UN3373? That's a UN material code. It is perhaps more likely to be the AAM40085985, but even that doesn't follow the pattern as reported. Sorry couldn't remove the erroneous quote box

I doubt that the number from the test kit you have inherited will work, were that the case I would have used one of the ones I have that were being given out like sweets in the UK.
The intention is that you book and pay for a test using one of the accredited laboratories (cronies), having paid the money you are more likely to take the test and send it off where critically if the company is not a complete scammer they will inform the health authority of any positive results so the people can be isolated and followed closely to ensure they in fact do.
I did a PLR for a journey tonight, the box no longer auto-fills with the previous submitted test booking number, I did not play around to see if any old letter/number sequence would be accepted.

Regarding the ferry name I always just put 'Dieppe Ferry' so I would guess 'Caen Ferry' or such like would be acceptable.

Is there a list anywhere of the companies you can use for a test?
The test I am trying to use is an NHS kit for PCR

As suggested I don't think the NHS test is registered as a test for use in conjunction with international travel in or out.
The reasons for this are: The NHS test is for specific purposes relating to profession or the possibility of infection. "Giving away" tests for people who voluntarily chose to travel is not the purpose. The NHS certainly does not need its testing facilities overwhelmed by travellers' requests for tests. UK capitalism rules say that someone can have the opportunity to make a mint out of peoples desires to travel. Someone it seems is often closely related to or in close business connection with senior government officials.

Hi manonthemoon2. I'm sure Exile is right, NHS tests are not allowed. We have recently booked and received PCR tests from Randox. They are the company that Brittany Ferries has agreed a discount with. The price seems reasonable, £45 each. We booked the test kits online and received them 2 days later. All seems good so far. covid.randox.com/amber-country/Michael

Hi manonthemoon2. I take it that as you are filling in a PLF you are travelling from France to UK. Randox will only deliver to UK addresses.
If you order online now, you will receive an email order confirmation with the booking reference that you will need for your PLF. You will need to give the UK address at which you will arrive so that the test kit will be there on or before the day you arrive. The test has to be done no more than 2 days after you enter the UK. Hope this helps.
Michael
