It's such a long time since I went to UK and obviously the API form is something new. BF says to take paper copies of all the paperwork so I have completed and run off the above form to take.
Could someone who has travelled recently tell me if it is also obligatory coming back into France - presume it is, but I won't easily have facilities to print it off in the UK. I can't get hold of BF. Thanks.

On your return to France you will need an attestation that you are not suffering from, or been near anyone, with Covid - it has your address on. Don't forget your Carte de sejour.

Not required for entry to France, I have never done an attestation either only France to UK and then it was only to sign a very bad translation of a French document so it must exist.
I returned yesterday with nothing other than my passport and vaccination certificate.

I appreciate you haven’t been asked for the paperwork yet but it very definitely does exist, though the authorities are perhaps less keen on seeing it as they were a few months ago. That’s said some transport operators are still occasionally asking to see the document before allowing travel and at it’s not unknown for the Border police at our local airport to ask to see it if they are in a particularly grumpy mood.. The link needed to print the form is available via This site

Thanks. It is not the attestation for getting back into France (if asked for), which I have ready to complete anyway, but the API which was a link sent to me by BF which, apparently, has to be completed at least 24 hours before travelling. It is another form which again asks for all personal information, passport number, passport expiry date, etc.
I just couldn't find out if it also to be done before coming back into France and how I would print it in UK.
I have since managed at last to speak to BF. They say that BF will be sending me a link to complete it before coming back but that it won't be necessary to have the printed copy as they probably won't ask for it, as long as I have completed it online.

Leclairon,
That was my experience last time I travelled France - UK - France (end of July)
This was the first time that I had had to complete the API. I received an email from DFDS a couple of days before I left France and had to fill the info in online using the link. I didn't have to print it out or fill it in again before returning to France.
Hope that helps.
Forgot to say, I'm travelling again on Sunday so am expecting an email re the API from the ferry company tomorrow.

Ok I’ll admit to not knowing what an “API” is so can I ask if it is similar to the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) details airlines have required passengers to complete for many years for flights? it started with any flights touching the US, these days it’s pretty much required for all flights between pretty much anywhere.
APIS usually involves entering passport details, DOB etc and has to be completed on line before departure, so sounds similar to what is being asked for with API.

Not much point in responding to an posting if thats what the forum corrupts it to and then loses all the text that I typed in
The second time that it has happened so not a one off hiccup.

Is the PLF form no longer needed?

But you had me worried.. and you’re right, the reply/edit features of this place are consistently problematic (well it is to my tiny brain)

Is the PLF form no longer needed? AFAIK still needed for entry into the UK and I think will be for the foreseeable future.

Hi again
I think the API may be what the airlines have been asking for - presume it must be fairly new for BF/DFDS if most of you have not come across it before. According to BF, the PLF is still required.
then I got the link from BF with the API saying it had to be filled in at least 24 hours before.
My only concern was whether I would have to print out the form for the return from the UK end but it seems as long as the link has been completed online, it's OK. Thanks pcpa - seems not necessary to print it out.
Phew, we won't know ourselves when things are back to normal ... "whatever normal will be"!
Thanks, all.

Travelled to the UK two weeks ago - PLF, negative test result and vaccination proof all needed by BF just to board. On the way back Eurotunnel asked for API plus uploading of 'honneur' statement (which didn't work), French border staff wanted proof of vaccination only.
