I havent lived there for 25 years so I dont know if it is a mess, but I do that up to a year ago family members received excellent service and that many many years ago the NHS saved my common law step-daughter’s life when she only had a 5-10% chance of survival.
I am just wondering if we couldnt lay off the nasty words a bit as they do not add anything to the discussions or do credit to their posters.

A former member here always said this was a racist forum, he had a point if you’ve never lived in Scotland FFS how do you know? Surely you are mixing up nationalist feelings with racism. Goodness - the former member certainly cannot have a grasp of what racism is. It is demonstrated elsewhere though.

Having read this and other threads there is definitely a nastiness creeping into the forum - If your view of the world is through anti-brexit, english bashing, Johson hating, Starmer loving, Union Jack or tartan coloured spectacles it doesn't take long to turn this once "friendly" forum into a vehicle for extreme views to be aired. The "Rhymes with Hunt" thread is an example. I like other members would ask that the childish my country is better than yours bollocks be toned down. "Oh! Oh: but he started it............... " Is no excuse. Please give it a break.

I think it's a question of pride in one's country of origin. Though there may be serious things wrong in all 4 countries of the UK, there is probably more to be proud of in Scotland than there is in England. Put another way, there is less to be ashamed about in Scotland.
This from someone born and raised in the Antipodes who then spent 20 years living in England before moving to France.
There's bucket loads to be ashamed of in Scotland. Just as There's much to be angry about or disappointing in. And believe me there's plenty to hate. That's not the issue with the previous posters though because they are unaffected. They're issue is me knocking the UK and offending their true blue rule britannia souls. Your occasional reminder people: The UK is not England. England is being held back just as much as any other part of the UK by the woeful politics practiced in Westminster but there's none so blind as those who will not see.

My problem is the overt and unnecessary Jock bashing that goes on and is so normalised in your culture that it's invisible to you. There's no compulsion to read my posts BTW.

Am I the only one that thinks that showing somewhere else is even more sh@t doesn't excuse the reference country's being sh@t.
And those that think UK bashing is England bashing, you need to get over yourselves. Scotland was bought and sold for English gold 3 centuries ago and paved the way for a "United" Kingdom in which, notionally, each country has equal status. That the seat of UK government lies in England does not absolve those from any of the 4 countries that have perpetuated the blatant Anglo-centrism from shame.
The English are no more or less at fault for the current malaise than the Scots, Welsh or Irish. The blame lies with those that support a rapaciously corrupt government which has sequestered NI to a kind of limbo and refuses to allow the Scots a say on their membership of the UK. The English and Welsh are similarly wedded to this Union which, imo,has outlived any usefulness it once had.
It is the core that is rotten.

Back to brexit - it really makes me want to throw up listening to this from him sitting there with a smug smile on his face not having a clue what he is talking about. Time and again I marvel that someone with only a useless degree in a forgotten language and another with forgotten hieroglyphics can lead one of the (just) top nations.

I'm with Ally on this one. Boris is a ****. How about this as a solution. While all the cops are farting about unsticking Insulate Britain roadblocks the farmers should send the pigs to Downing Street and off load them all in front of No.10.
