Even BE couldn't think it was going well, surely? Of course it is going well. We aren't paying loads of money every time an EU country has weather problems etc. Still no empty shelves in Selby supermarkets. Only 3 garages having problems with fuel. Don't worry about us littlepea! I admire your defence of dear old Blighty BE but even you must admit that things are tough at the moment and predicted to get even worse leading up to Christmas.

It’s obviously nirvana in Yorkshire. I have just spoken to a mate on Romsey near Southampton who tells me all the garages in his area are closed due to having no petrol etc. The locals in this very affluent area are not amused…

Our children in Fareham, Hampshire told me the petrol stations have big queues and are manic.
Fortunately they both filled up last week before the s^^^ hit the garages.

The petrol outlets at Sainsbury, tesco etc are manic but not dry. A texaco in a local town is business as normal yet the BP is shut.
The shelves in all supermarkets are thinly stocked with some items unavailable. This seems to be typical across the country. Except, naturally, Selby where the local are sipping nectar from the bosom of the Gods.

Don't worry about us littlepea! I used to know Selby slightly a long time ago and don't remember it being full of filling stations. A search suggests that there are three filling stations near Selby - so all of them shut then!! You cannot even admit that you too are in the doo doo.

I've experienced that. Switch to bbcode and commence your post after the last [/quote]
BE might very well be accurate in what he's reporting vis a vis fuel supplies. Indeed things seem normal here in Prestwick, notwithstanding the panic at the weekend. However, the fact we celebrate small successes doesn't detract from the ever growing post Brexit crisis. On the contrary, it emphasises the desperation of Brexiteers to justify their position.

Blighty?
Blighted with bankers.
I always wanted to play a solo with the one that wanted to go like that, just as my mum taught me.
Then when I was about nine, I noticed girls and thought that they might give me a hand.

I do like the plain speaking in Private Eye It's a good job that the Tories are the party of business and the party of low taxation.

Just arrived near Driffield in East Yorkshire. Must have passed 10 or more petrol stations between home and here; each one was open but none were queued up. Some of the prices seemed a bit ambitious, mind!
I've got enough petrol to get me home in the Focus with some to spare and it goes in next Saturday to the buyer. Planning to leave it with maybe 5ltrs in the tank! Then on Monday have a train journey to Gt Yarmouth to pick up the new car. 80 mile journey requires 2 changes of train and takes 4.5 hours. Is it any wonder people prefer to use their cars?

At least I would get health care You just can’t bear to admit that the Scottish NHS is in just as much of a mess as the English can you? I would say the Scottish NHS is in a worse state than the English NHS! What with missing funds, the military driving ambulances, treble 9 calls diverted to NW England call handlers, Covid passport flop.
