I like the idea, because it will also force (I hope) Labour members to improve their own behaviour.

Can’t quite recall anything similar to this rulebook rewriting backed by the PM when they were in power. Not in power now so potential lobbying ‘pitfalls’ or sleaze not such an issue.

In the Title "The Tories Corrupt?", the question mark is superfluous.

Sounds like yesterday’s shenanigans in Parliament wasn’t just about Paterson anyway. The PM has some up and coming potential conduct breaches coming up for scrutiny soon and I’m sure a new committee of just Tory MP’s would help no end.... Oh dear created such a stink there’s now been a reverse ferret.....

That sounds like you don't think Labour need to worry about their behaviour because they're not in power. Of course, that doesn't stop you lobbying.
I was thinking of anti-semiticism, bullying, what's left of Momentum, the disgraceful way Starmer was heckled, the way they fight each other like cats in a sack ... but you're probably (unfortunately) right, no prospect of their being elected any time soon.

Not saying that at all. Infighting isn’t in the same league as the corruption in the Tory Party on display yesterday which was another disgraceful shift towards a banana republic. Don’t forget the Tories have also had their share of infighting over the years. Predominately about Europe which the Brexit referendum which was a somewhat misguided attempt to put paid to. What on earth will it take for the Tories to do to stop the oh well what about Labour comments? Most of them hypothetical.

A second term with a greater majority. I’m afraid you’re right. When will Labour grow up?

A thread about Tories engulfed in sleaze again but no, lets harp on about Labour instead....

The defence that goes "but he did it too (but I can't give an example" is pretty weak. In fact it's a tacit admission that the corruption exists by desperately trying to suggest that it must be OK because others do it. It's pathetic, really.

Both of you are reading into what I said things that aren’t there.
Obviously Jackie is a Labour supporter, so has a degree of partiality.
My view - expressed but not understood - is that both the major parties are less of an example of moral leadership than they ought to be.
Let’s not waste time pointing the finger at the other side. Instead, let’s recognise the faults in the party we support and encourage change.
For clarity, I support none of the major British parties, and view general elections as an exercise in damage limitation.

You’ve got a government as corrupt as it is incompetent, yet Labour appears completely unable to land a punch on it; worse, they spend all their time squabbling amongst themselves and Starmer is powerless to stop it.

The vast majority of people who put themselves forward to be MP's do so because they want to 'make a difference', when the they get to Westminster though there seems to be a split in the paths they take. Most such as David Amess dedicate their whole parliamentary career serving their constituency while the likes of Owen Paterson and Matt Hancock willingly jump on the slippery pole of progression and power even if they are not up to the job. Once you have a bit of power and influence it's easy to be tempted into thinking you can do no wrong and abuse the position you're in. Unfortunately the Tory Party seems to attract more people like Paterson and Hancock than the other parties so it's understandable it gets labelled as the party of 'sleaze'.
Coincidentally, yesterday also saw the conviction of a former Labour MP currently sitting at Westminster as an Independent.
Clearly there are 'wrong uns' in every party.

Pretty exact Tim. Wrongness seems to correlate with how far they make it up the greasy pole, In the present case, the sleazy pol. IMO the old cabinet needs burning.
