Beef and barley soup and homemade soda bread Hi Jackie, I was looking for pearl barley in the supermarket this week and couldn't find it. How is it called in French? I ended up with ble precuit. Looks the same on the packet, but probably not. I haven't tried it yet.

I bought 2 tons of Orge this Autumn , it was 50% more expensive than last year! Probably why it is not available now?

My new bacon slicer comes today so will have an early start and get the smoker going and put in the cured 1/2 side of cured bacon, needs about 5/6 hours.

I bought a small tub of chicken livers yesterday, so that's what I'll have today. Half for me and half for the stray cat. He's rather fond of them!

Dredged in seasoned flour and lightly fried in butter and served on toast, heaven.
