Even if I could afford somewhere decent in a safe area I wouldn't even consider it. Too many reasons to list and almost all of them would provoke argument.
Who's next?

No.I am happy and accustomed to the way of life here. I don't dislike the UK, but after 24 years, home is in France.

As soon as our house is sold we'll likely move back, if we leave it any later then we'll effectively be priced out of where we want to buy, unless of course the UK housing market crashes.

Yes, very happy to do as commanded in this instance, it's my default reaction.

I have been living outside the UK for so long that the culture shock would I am sure be enormous. I saw the impact on work colleagues after 5 years even 3 years living away from the home country.
Never say never but it would take some monumental event to cause me to leave France now.

Yes, but we can't move with the kids in education. So that is another 15 years before we could even consider it. I would prefer to have a 'maison secondaire' in the UK rather than move there TBH. Spend six months between the two. It might sound silly, but I think it will be the 'climate' in France that will force our decision. It is getting far too hot for my liking. I am dreading the summer. 35-40 degrees don't rock for me.

I wonder how many people who moved here several years ago will be able to financially go back, we know of several couples who are stuck here with no hope of buying in the UK despite having a decent retirement income.

Nice to see someone with sufficient command of English to use the subjunctive mood.
