If I book an appointment via DrLib for a booster jab at a pharmacy , which it will allow me to do, will they give it to me, even if I offer to pay? I can’t have one in the UK as its still over 65s only.

You may have problems as the autumn booster is restricted to the over 65s and people with underlying condition. Our pharmacy doesn't need a rdv so it could be worth your while to just turn up at yours and ask.

Just had our 5th Covid - it would have been 6th but we got the dreaded covid last December. I am surprised that flu jab is being offered already. No sign here and I would not expect anything for at least a month (usually mid October before the vaccine is at the pharmacy) but waiting 'til November - best mid to late November - is a good move. Our letter says the 'flu jab will be available from 17/10 onwards

Gosh, I didn't realise it was 65+ over here as well, they need to drop it to 60 soon me thinks, before it kicks off again big time

Having had Covid, five days of vomiting, diarrhoea, hallucination, and becoming paranoid, no sleep, I managed to phone the local infirmary, they was out within 20mins Tested + so tablets and gallons of water, a few days later I could get out of bed, just gently improved, tested - five days later, back to normal but still tired, so an afternoon power nap is order of the day, and still plenty of liquid, occasionally flavoured with hops

I'm returning from the fog of Covid too.. Fortunately my symptoms; though unpleasant, were not as anti-social as yours were.
I passed it on to my wife - something she needed like a hole in the head - as she's already having a hard time with cancer.

Not a good thing to have when you're battling cancer. I wish her all the best.

I wondered if you told the pharmacy you are here for 3 months and forgot to have your booster before you left the UK they might agree. Just a thought.

I didn't bother in the end mangetout given the age was also still 65 over here, I thought I might be flogging a dead horse, we both have Flu jabs booked in the UK next week when we get back, so I am hoping we can persuade the staff there to also Covidise us.....lets see

Hi JD, my OH has a thyroid problem, had it for years and manages well, free prescriptions and always first for flu and covid jabs, as they class it as an underlying condition and as I live with her, we had both jabs on the 23 of September (I am 56) in Worcestershire.

I had my Covid booster this morning at the pharmacie and was given an EU certificate with my UK vaccinations shown on it and today’s French Covid booster.
There was absolutely no feeling of the needle going in to me - just like a knife going into soft butter.
It had been suggested that they might mot allow the booster to go into my badly bruised arm from when I fell out of bed when I first arrived and can only have one arm used for vaccinations - but it was no problem at all.
Went for a pizza afterwards to celebrate - I’m not cooking much here, it’s too warm even outdoors late in the evenings.

I’m not cooking much here, it’s too warm even outdoors late in the evenings. I'm with you there. Seriously considering getting climatisation installed for next summer and to hell with the cost. Each year I find the heat less bearable. I’d definitely recommend it. We were sorting out all our paperwork before I came over, as we’re thinking of selling our apartment. Our reversible clim’ was installed in spring 2012 and wasa godsend, cost €1800 at the time. That first winter our electricity bills dropped by a lot, as we no longer used the electric fires that were fitted by the building company - we certainly hadn’t expected to save money on the heating. We only have 1 unit, fitted in the bedroom, which we chose as we can have it on almost silent at night. The coolness and the heat spread through our small apartment helped by a couple of fans, particularly the heat in winter, so much more comfortable than it was previously. The local company who installed the clim’ were highly recommended - one friend who recommended them had them install their wine cellar system before the system in their house - much more important to them. The boss of the electrical company rang us the day after we ordered to check that we’d been told that there was a slightly cheaper version - we explained that we had been told, but wanted the quieter system. Very pleasant to have a company wanting to get you the best deal. We also had a big electric store fitted along the balcony, another aid to keeping cool, which cost about the same as the clim’.
