Sounds like a scheme to thin out those of the herd without natural resistance or means.

A group of us went for an early walk this morning while it was cool and afterwards went into town.
Discussion on the walk ranged widely, with quite a bit on bed bugs and also on Covid. I was only one of two who’ve had the autumn booster, although all were entitled to have it. Two said they weren’t planning having the booster as numbers of people locally with C-19 didn’t seem to be growing.
Both at coffee and on our way to lunch we saw a number of people wearing masks, some of whom I know and who weren’t wearing them in the last couple of days.
Anyone know of numbers of cases of C-19 growing locally to them?
I wore a mask on the plane coming to Marseille and will be wearing one on the return trip to Heathrow on Thursday. I know that masks are meant to help prevent passing on C-19 if you have it, and so far I haven't tested positive (will be testing again tomorrow), but it makes me feel safer.

You can only do what you can do to prevent catching whichever strain of the virus is now, so good on you Gigi and don't worry what other people think.

A friends elderly mother, living in the UK in a major town has serious health problems and went to ask about a covid jab at her local pharmacy. She was told they couldn’t get hold of the jabs. Here in France we received letters from CPAM for the latest Covid and flu jabs. Pharmacy has put our names on the list and will phone us 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I watched the UK drama about the Covid crisis on C4 recently. Shocking. Totally. Meanwhile NZ apparently saved hundreds of thousands of lives, shutting down completely.
Anybody still defending the UK govt over this really needs to pull their head out of the sand…..

In the UK we received emails to go online to decide which pharmacy to make an appointment at for the C-19 booster and the same happened with this year’s flu jab, or if preferred, GPs were giving both together.
I flew to France just before C-19 boosters were available in the UK, but had one here as soon as our local pharmacy had boosters available, on 3rd October. The pharmacist said that take up was slow, not many had booked by then. I’d already had my flu jab, was keen to have it before coming to France.

I'm very surprised at that, my 89 year old housebound mother had her's at home three weeks ago and FIL whose just gone through cancer treatment had his at the pharmacy attached to the doctors surgery. Neither had to anything as they were contacted direct by their respective surgeries.

We were going to a friends for dinner this evening, had a call last night saying that hubby had covid, so cancelled untill next year. We are returning to the UK Sunday flu jab booked for Wednesday, and Covid booster booked for the end of the month at a local pharmacy. All good.

I've just been reading through the posts on this with disbelief, I'm 70 years old, never had a flu vax and never had a covid vax. I did loose 20 months of work due to being unvacinated but once they changed the rules I travelled backwards and forwards between France and the UK with no problem. I think the whole thing has been a real good earner for the pharmaceutical industry and little else.

I think the whole thing has been a (real good) earner for the pharmaceutical industry and little else. Well on that we can agree. Whether an earner, good earner or real good earner probably depends on a personal view? However more importantly - depending on your viewpoint - the Covid vaccines have proven to be proof of concept for mRNA vaccines and we can now look forward to vaccines that will (or not depending on a view) reduce death rates from the following: Chikungunya virus, COVID-19, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever, Dengue, Ebola virus disease, HIV, Malaria, Marburg virus disease, Lassa fever, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), Nipah and henipaviral diseases, Rift Valley fever, Severe fever with Thrombocytopenia syndrome, Tuberculosis and Zika which no doubt will earn them even more. But might just save a few million lives.
