Once again the first few squadrons of grues have appeared above our house heading south west. It is a little early this year but I suspect that the mass migration will be at the end of the month. Lovely to see them. They don’t even know that Truss has resigned.

Yes, it's always lovely to see and hear them, but the sight and sound is so much sweeter when they head north east.

Could be more gruesome things to come.

Looking at the " site" the grues started their migration from Germany yesterday and then turned back.

This morning we were treated to the sight of about one thousand birds passing overhead. They even took advantage of the south facing, sunny slopes to gain height on the thermals.

A group went past us yesterday late pm, couldn't see them, cloud to low, not too many by the sound of them.

Following the cranes on the LPO site , they have stopped early ( 85,000 counted) at the Lac du Der in the champagne . Normally they have a following North wind , at the moment the wind is turning from West to East , so not easy to fly .

They must be on the move again. Several 'packs' flew over us this afternoon. What do you call a 'pack of' grues?
Edit: couldn't think of the word, but probably flock.

Blow me down! not 3 minutes later a une danse des grues passed directly overhead, first time I have ever witnessed it!
At least I assume they were grues, flying in a vee formation with smaller sub vees forming from each wing, honking like mad, or would they be geese?
They were either lucky or chose today because there were no flights, they crossed the flightpath at what looked to be the altitude the planes reach on the climb out from the aéroport.
