I'm a bit stumped as to what to spread on crispbread as an alternative to Prim'Frais, St Moret etc. Something reasonably low-fat, low-sugar and low-salt, but not the 'processed' forms of spreads that claim to be one or all of those. The only thing that comes to mind is houmous, but eating garlic for breakfast, while effective at repulsing any lingering vampires, won't gain me any friends So, any ideas?

Thinly sliced banana?
If you are thinking something spread on a crispbread will serve as a breakfast, you might as well give up eating the crispbread. I can't imagine anything less satisfying at that time of day.

Mystys Cottage Cheese without a doubt.
Then you will agree that it is completely different to Faisselle.
Why are you renouncing St Moret?

I was going to suggest thinly sliced banana but Aardvark beat me to it. I eat 1/2 a banana for breakfast, no crispbread.

For the first pre breakfast snack I normally have a buttered crisp bread with thinly spread marmite.
I can’t suggest anything low fat. My current regime is to eat as much as possible.
This is normally followed by musli and fruit depending upon availability. Recently this has usually involved half a banana.
How normal can one get?

A couple of crispbreads with thinly-sliced cheese or Prim'Frais does me. Three if I'm skipping lunch

Why are you renouncing St Moret? Not renouncing it, I'd just like a change!

If you are going to accept banana then seemingly the fruit sugars are not a problem to you.
I used to sweeten my porridge with 1/2 a banana but like you storing them was an issue, I now use pate à datte from an Arab épicerie which keeps well and costs a fraction, most would be too solid to tartiner some if kept out of the fridge would or you could mix it with water in the micro-onde to make a spreadable paste to store in a jar.
They probably sell something à tartiner made from dattes with possible amandes for pâtisseries.

That might have changed with current fad of overconsumption. I like crumpet as well. So does moh. I am not suggesting it is obscene, but, she uses so much butter that it makes scenes from The Godfather pale into insignificance. ’ Something reasonably low-fat, low-sugar and low-salt, but not the 'processed' forms of spreads that claim to be one or all of those‘ Have you tried helium ?
