Twice recently I've felt something biting me. It was ladybirds and they didn't let go without a fight. I get bitten badly every summer, but ladybirds in Spring is a first for me. Nasty lump on my wrist this morning. Little bug...gers!

What nationality were they ☺ Years ago I thought I got bitten by a bluebottle it took another couple of times before I was sure I was right. Like you I'm bitten by most things. Front line on the legs keeps harvest mite away but no idea on the long term issues. Never heard of lady birds bitting.

You poor thing, it sounds very nasty, particularly as the season seems to have been extended.
Wasps really love me and make a bee-line for me and as I’m allergic to wasp stings this has made summer and early autumn particularly worrying, with epipens accompanying me wherever I go. Our younger son has the same problem as me but not the allergy, while the elder is free from wasp-worry.

When I was teaching in the 70s I remember one year when there were hordes of ladybirds that would bite and terrorise the children at playtime. It was like something out of a horror film. Thank goodness, I seem not to attract stinging insects of any sort

Within hours my hand up to my elbow had swelled enormously and my bp was 200/120. I was given some tablets to counteract the swelling and bring down my bp and have to carry them with me during the summer. I suppose it's the price us 'tasty' girls pay for being attractive Gigi

Despite spending significant time around the horses the horse flies seldom have a go at me. If I feel them land and make their initial bite I literally knock 'em dead. Even the horses hate those.

Ladybirds? I never thought of them as aggressive. I shall have to watch out as they winter up in our curtains and corners of the windows and ceilings. Hundreds of them, always thought of them as harmless.

So did I before they started biting me. The 1st one was difficult to dislodge, but I just thought it was a one off. The 2nd, last night, proved me wrong.

When I used to go camping regularly, the others used to use me as their mosquito repellent - as in, I would be covered in bites and they would have none.

Ladybirds arn't aggressive , they only bite when feel in danger , they are harmless unless attacked ( a bit like the English) We also have hundreds that overwinter, thy are lovely. Reminds me of my Dutch son-in-law that tried to kill any insect that came near him , even male flying stag beetles.

Biting insects seem to prefer females. Some of them have more delicate skin.

Ladybirds do bite. I was picnicking near some vineyards when they decided to drop swarms of ladybirds as a bio solution to aphids. We were bitten and had to withdraw from the blighters

I never kill insects, preferring to catch them and put them outside with one exception and that's mosquitoes. They're very difficult to catch so I swat them.
