Yes I had the Pfizer vacc. When I went to book number 3, there were all sorts of instances why you should not have a jab, but by virtue of age and the date of the previous jabs, I seemed to qualify. So I'm booked in more by default than anything.

It’s interesting that some of you in France will soon be having booster shots; here in the UK the decision on if and who should get a third dose of a Covid-19 jab is reportedly imminent as the Joint Committe on Vaccinations and Immunisations (JCVI) meet to discuss the idea of a booster programme.
it has been discussed about having both the flu jab and booster shot at the same time, one in each arm; as I am 65+ and therefore likely to be called for a booster if they are decided upon and can only have injections etc in one arm, I’m thinking that I might book to have a flu jab at Boots before or after appointments for the booster jab start locally.

They always give me my flu shot in the shoulder. I wonder why they can't do the vaccinations in the shoulder too?

I put arm, but, yes, it is shoulder; can’t have blood taken from arm, so just put that - a bit lazy! 🤭

My 3rd is booked for this Saturday.` Why? Are you particularly fragile? I am waiting as had first two in Jan/Feb, and so only 8 months. Since I know I have developed antibodies there seems little point.

At present the third dose is generally thought to be directed at those in Ehpads who are 90+, those elsewhere who have compromised immune systems, those who are considered elderly and fragile and those who have multifarious, underlying problems which could lead to a lowering of the capacity to fight back in face of a bout of covid.

Two EU countries have already put a 270 day time limit on the vaccines so you could be denied entry if your 2nd jab was done longer ago than that.

As I appear to be too young and/or too healthy, I decided to cancel the appointment and wait a while.

You must make your decision on what is best for you, only you know your situation. Waiting a while seems a sensible comprise. OH and I had our 2nd jabs at the end of May so I am pleased that we won't have any decision to make until early December at the earliest. We had the Moderna vaccine .. and they haven't said anything yet about 3rd doses being desirable/helpful/ necessary.

I feel very unsure, even ill-informed about this whole issue, which isn't the best position to be in when required to make such decisions.

Since I know I have developed antibodies there seems little point. Developing antibodies is not the be all and end all. Efficacy - which includes antibody protection as well as T-cell protection - has been shown to drop off. By 4 months after peak protection, the Pfizer vaccine has been shown to have lost about 15% of its efficacy against the Delta variant. AZ drop off is rather less, but starts from a lower start point. These are both still excellent results*, but after 8 months your level of protection is likely to be reduced and at some point a booster would be advisable. * Don't confuse efficacy with the chances of catching the virus, they are not the same.
