Absolutely wonderful news. Although of course he does a Trump and says it's a witch hunt. But I don't care. He's gone. Hip hip hooray.

So funny, his list of honours comes out in the afternoon and a few hours later he has to quit.

He's gone, but the stench will remain for a while.

Come the glorious day when he and Trump are rightly behind bars I will be celebrating with Champagne. However justice can be fickle sometimes

I’m concerned about the two by-elections. Tories are in a weak position, Labour wins, Johnson is waiting in the wings and emerges triumphantly. Four years down the line, he wins the election and is again PM.

Four years down the line, he wins the election and is again PM. He may emerge 'triumphantly' amongst the tory faithful, but I personally believe that the GBP now have his number and 'wont get fooled again'.

It should be 6 years down the track (assuming the governments run to full term) and he has firstly to get put on a Tory list for an election seat, be chosen as the prospective candidate and then win that election. There are still many will support him but I am less than sure that he is still seen as a Tory messiah.

I don’t know anyone who would have him, but none of us wanted him last time. So many did want him then and maybe would go for him again. Our saviours could well be those who refuse in the future to put him on the list of Tory candidates.

He was going to be heavily criticised (likely will still be) by the MPs commitee looking into 'partygate', plus his constituency is on a knife edge and many of the UK political journalists predict that he will lose at the next election. So it seems to me that those two things have made him go before being pushed.
There will now be a by-election in his seat, so we will know how well the journalists are informed!
However, it may be that down the track he might find himself a safe seat, and be back.

I don't think he can make a comeback. His flush has been busted and most people see through him now. Like the song from The Emperor’s New Clothes goes - ‘The king is in the altogether now, altogether now…….’
Little Rishi in waving through Johnson’s honours list just before he resigned has proved himself more accountant than politician
