How about this one then: How many facets must a diamond have to be called ' brilliant'. I came across this useless piece of trivia when I was a boy and it's stayed lodged in my head ever since. I love trivia, my head is full of totally useless information.

In the UK, large-ish towns were the distance of a one day stagecoach journey (Approx 20 miles). There would be intermediary stops (stages) where the teams of horses would be changed on a regular basis which also grew to be towns of significant importance.

It's not useless Norfolk. It's a joy, knowledge for knowledge sake. It shows an interest in the world around us. My late husband was the same. He soaked up information like a sponge. I didn't need encyclopedias when he was alive.

Typical example where you are veem with Poitiers, Angouleme and Limoges almost equidistant, then going off to Niort and Perigueux then Tours, Orleans etc etc . It’s not coincidence.

I thought Lila was one of Dr. Who’s assistants and Fangio Nuvolari was the racing driver.

Horses had to be changed, serviced and roads were not quite what they are today and journeys would be more of an endurance test if they did not involve overnight stays. oops! I didn’t realise that I was answering Veem.

The answer to the diamond question was 57. Wonder why 57 ? Apparently the ‘57’ invented by Heinz had very little to do with varieties, it seems that number was just plucked out of the air for publicity reasons.

So, somewhere like Limoges to Angouleme would have had towns like St Junien, Roumazieres, Chasseneuil and La Rochefoucauld en route for a nightly stop over.

Brilliant cut diamonds are based on an 8 way symmetry. There are 8 faces at the base - which reflect light back through the diamond (hence it being known as a sparkler). On the top there are 6 sets of 8 faces, all cut to capture light and for it to be reflected back from that base (now at 56 faces) and then there is a flat face = total of 57 faces.

We've just returned from visiting what is reputedly the largest brick building in the world. So where have we been?
