Be careful in using the English language option on these - the prices can be more expensive which I discovered and angrily pointed out once…😡 I avoid them as much as I can, there’s stuff you need the machine itself to weigh and other stuff that gets weighed on seperate scales and it takes ages to locate said item on the vast display. Then the machine will get its knickers in a twist about something and a staff member has to reset it. Then it gives you a code to get out which has to be scanned in the right way up etc etc…..😳😳😳 Far simpler to let a cashier do it all….. You must have selected the "Prix Anglais" button by mistake.

People who question the spelling of others. That's a public service!

What a depressing thread! As for the idiot that posted the comment complaining about having to wait behind the elderly lady looking for her chequebook, get a life, you will get old too. I am getting old and have increasing mobility issues and so now rely on home deliveries for heavy/bulky items. Leclerc at Blagnac, Toulouse offer a great service with free delivery if you are over 65. For small items I enjoy a walk to my local Auchan and use the self-service checkout where I have never encountered a problem, always at least one helpful girl there to help. I wonder why all these complaining posters living in France are here at all.

Blimey, the amount of times you used to complain just because in your opinion the post wasn't written by someone 'living in, or interested in, France and all things French '...........

Does the auto cashier take cash? I doubt it very much. Fast forward another ten years. You just fill up your trolley with what you want and push it out to the car park. The items are auto scanned as you walk past the door along with your debit card. More jobs lost. This already exists, albeit temporarily in the UK.

You can never have too much Dave Allen. I met him briefly in Leeds, of all places. He was a real gentleman but had an air of sadness about him. And did some polite jibing about my Norn Iron accent. A complete one off.

Leclerc at Blagnac, Toulouse offer a great service with free delivery if you are over 65. Quick quote wouldn't work. That's a brilliant initiative! I've had deliveries a couple of times when unwell to stock up on heavy pet food and it costs 7.90€ to come less than 1km.

Leclerc do not advertise it but it is available. They have probably had to do it as Carrefour do and advertise it on their website. Minimum order at Leclerc is €50, Carrefour €60. Also Leclerc use refrigerated vans so will deliver frozen goods.

This idiot is already "old" and I can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque for anything unless it was to be posted to the recipient. But if I did make a habit of using a cheque I would make sure it wasn't at the very bottom of my bag. My bank card is already in my hand before the items get past the till, such is my desire to get the hell out of a supermarket as quickly as possible. Not my idea of a fun day out.

I have been known to pay by cheque usually toward the end of the month because it takes a few days to clear at the bank.I always pay EDF by cheque, because they seemed to be constantly raising the monthly payment, and then at the end of the year paying money back, so I ditched the monthly payments and pay by cheque.

And that avoids giving them the use of your money without paying interest. I do the same but by bank card after making sure the amount they ask for is correct.
