Presumably some of those who are currently ‘ resting ‘ might get back to work and the DVLA might get off its arse and get the new licences out which it has been holding up. Vile comment. Privately educated tw@t who has assets in off-shore investments. Lorry driving is a very skilled profession - would you like such a massive vehicle downing on you in a piddling little Kia with an untrained person at the wheel. Perhaps South Africa is where you should have stayed (sic). Grumpyish you are truly one of the nastiest gobshytes I have ever come across. You must have a hideous chip on your shoulder. Shame on you for that post.

It’s bad enough to have such problems here in the UK without posters on this forum piling in with unpleasant, gloating posts, some seeming to hope that it will get worse. Nobody would expect posters to make light of the problems here, which will particularly hit those least able to cope with it all, but I find the sheer nasty gloating hard to take. Most posters on here know perfectly well that many millions of people are disgusted with the Tory government that they didn’t vote for but have to live with it, despite objecting to our own MPs and to the government, but tar everyone with the same brush in their sweeping statements. And as for “a sense of 'acceptance' not just of the Brexit consequences but also of the level of daily Covid infections and deaths”, it shocked me to read that - but maybe that’s true of the people you mixed with/met. Hard to imagine mixing with such stupid, thoughtless people though. It’s horrifying to me and those close to me that such high figures of infections and deaths are happening day after day. We all still take the precautions of wearing masks, washing hands well and regularly, using hand gel, shopping early in tbe mornings and having groceries delivered, not going anywhere crowded, taking tests to check that we don’t have Covid and won’t be passing it on inadvertently to others. A slight majority of millions more, unfortunately, did not. Unfortunately I really do not know who your family change your vote to. I would have said Labour, but Starmer appears to be only driven by his personal well-being.

When you get one wind-up merchant attacking another, it's the grumpybanana show. Don't push the limits too far, chaps, it can only end badly for both of you.

Since when did an HGV driver become an LGV driver? Why confuse people by changing acronyms?

Can I just clarify that as this thread is talking about HGV drivers and tankers, that there is much more involved than just having the licence. You also need a CPC, ADR and I believe that there is also a separate distinct qualification for access to refineries, but I'm not up to date on that.

Brit expats are a funny bunch.. Sitting in their country houses in another country slagging off the country they left..
Rome was not built in a day - ever heard that? Well it is true for post EU less Great Britain.. In the long run which this is - things were not going to change overnight - Britain will be great again thru the hard work and determination of the people who STAYED on the island not by the people who left.

Emigrants. United Kingdom Getting the terminology correct might strengthen your weak argument. England might recover and I hope it does. The United Kingdom however, is in its death throes. Most of us will survive long enough to see the end.

From my perspective Brexit is the fault of the generation (age) of most of these expats who are saying it is a disaster...
It was them that created the situation that made brexit a reality - no, i won't do that, that work is below me, get someone else to do it is a really good example.

To be replaced by… that lot having their conference at the moment? You must be joking, incompetent Marxist wallies, not fit to govern, to quote a phrase!

Rome was not built in a day, and Rome is no longer the centre of the world. The collapse of the Roman Emire is attributed to various reasons, but look here and particularly at reasons 2 and 5.
