Have a safe journey JD. You should notice a difference in France with mask wearing and social distancing, things seem slack in the UK compared to France. It's great the no kissing, my knarly old lady who lives next door but one to me here in Brittany, used to pounce from the hedge when I walked the dog, in her never changed nylon house coat, the one she wears when weeing on her cabbages, hugging me to her chest and kissing me four/five times with hair stubble scratching my face. Not with the dog on this trip but still walk past to the communal bin, all I get now is a wave from a distance. Perfect Not everyone has stopped kissing and shaking hands plenty of oldies still say there is no covid in the commune as they shake your hand. You could still get a sloppy kiss

We arrived safely last night. We were exhausted after the 3 hour drive to the shuttle, and the 5 and a half hour drive this end, the house was absolutely ice cold freezing, it was warmer outside so we were a bit fed up/tired last night......Getting on the shuttle was fine, we got sidled and swabbed for explosives/drugs etc, and a general view through the windows of what was in the back of the landy, but no exhaustive checks......
NX healthcare antigen was accepted without issue, so no border issues at all......
I think we will ferry it back though and just change the date of the shuttle return to another date later in the year, the shuttle is just a bit to much for us in one day......
Drinking a beer now and CH is starting to warm the place up......France feels colder than the UK was, but we do have a log burner back home in the UK, but even going for a walk this morning it felt much colder.......probably just a result of shivering in the house last night LoL

It has got a lot colder here in the south of UK so you are not missing anything. Have you got several hot water bottles to keep you warm in bed. On another matter there is news that the return tests for vaccinated people will not be needed after 11th February. Just heard it on the BBC 6 o’clock news headlines.

It has been pretty chilly this year, we've had a lot of frosts (in Dept 24) more so than previous years. Enjoy your stay

Well done JD, glad you made it across, we are calling them Second Home Runs here in Brittany, bit like the Great Escape movie. It was 8 degrees in the kitchen when I arrived on the 17/1, it is now a balmy 16 degrees, these thick stone walls take a couple of days to absorb heat and then they hold that heat and you just top it up. My OH used to persuade me with the dog to drive over a couple of days before OH and DDD flew from East Midlands to Dinard, so "I could get some jobs done", I have realised now it was just so I would warm the house. Ryanair don't do that flight at the moment so when we come next month she will experience the cold.

Just to add, came back yesterday Caen to Portsmouth on the 4.30pm crossing, as I am triple jabbed only had to show passport, ticket and passenger locator forms.
I'd say there were about 90 cars on board and lorries filled the first half of the car deck (5). Facilities still not up to full speed, No A La Carte, no Boutique, staggered eating times at the self service and no entertainment (no that I am bothered with that).
Still the annoying, leaving the M27 and going round Southampton on the A27 and then back on and still 50 mph timed speed check plus a diversion around Swindon.

I thought you had extended your stay?

Got all my work done, so happy, two cuts of the grass, weed kill of driveway, all leaves to the tip and a few jobs inside, I was on my own, whilst I like my own company, it is only when I am busy with things to do and I hate hanging around but on Sunday I extended it to Tuesday, we are all travelling over on the 19/2 for 8 days which is not that far away, at least I won't have to get straight on the mower when I arrive and we can have a proper break.

I did a day two test, with C19 testing, the reporting is more involved, more like a passenger locator form so maybe that is the way it is going to go, not sure, it's just confusing.

I think Lurcher was more querying that you had not mentioned the day 2 test in your post about coming back, so he thought it may not be neccessary any more.... if I read between the lines correctly?

Exactly that. I was just being polite about what I thought was the rule. I assume that, at the moment, we still need to provide evidence of the booked day2 test when leaving France but not when we come back on 20th February.

What are the current requirements for travel to the UK and return from the UK to France?
Outbound leg anticipated Sunday.
