Hello again JonnyD. I have been following this thread and hope you have been able to resolve the problem and have escaped from quarantine. We have just returned to UK and are awaiting our test packs. Hope they turn up today and it does not follow your terrible ordeal. If you have time or inclination after the problems you have gone through, please tell us the final outcome. Thanks The resolution was a full 14 day quarantine as there really was no hope of us ever getting the day 8 test results, the day 8 tests for both of us would not activate online so there was no way to tie the test to us for the results, we still did them and sent them off in the hope we might contact someone and relay the barcode info for them to process. The 3 phone numbers i found online were constantly engaged for days (either configured like that if VOIP or just busy with other people trying to contact them to complain), the two emails I found just seemed to be dead, no one replying, and the email address on the bottom of the day 2 result did not even exist. The day 2 test took 4 days for us to get the result, i think we got it on day 5 or 6, not sure now. I take it you have booked test kits with the same company? If your test kits activate OK, you may be lucky, but even if that happens, I very much doubt you will get the day 8 results on day 10. Don't even try to contact them, its futile.

I'm so sorry you've gone through all this, JD At least you did make the trip to France! Are you still hoping to get back here soon?

Oh yes, still hopeful for early September…… Excellent! With any luck you'll be allowed back without quarantine this time - I've given up on any idea of going to the UK this year!

Thanks for the detail. Yes, we did book our test with the same company. The two packages arrived today, as expected, and we have activated the day2 tests, carried out the tests and posted them back. You described this first stage as running smoothly so the results and day8 tests activation will be interesting. At least I have a few days to think of an alternative route out of quarantine. If there is a hint of delay I will seek another way.

Lurcher, I you can leave quarantine if you take an additional day 5 test, so I would think that if you have any problems with the day 8 then you might be able to find a drive through centre and take a Test to Release. Obviously at an additional cost, but depending on your circumstances you may not want to wait for 14 days like JohnnyD did.
I have just come back to UK for work. I booked all my tests at the local airport drive through, fortunately only 30 mins away as I thought they would be more efficient than postal testing. I paid about £200 for the 3 tests and received my day 2 result the same day, I am currently waiting for day 5 result, I had the test this morning and was told result would arrive this evening.

There might be a slight problem there, but I don’t know for sure, you can’t activate the day 8 test until day 8, it logs the date and time of your stated test, by then you have missed your day 5 opt out, unless that can be done later? But I don’t think it can, but not 100 % sure

That’s certainly a possibility though maybe I will be lucky and everything will work properly. As JD says, it is not clear how the system operates outside the apparent norms. We all seem to be doing our best to comply with the crazy rules that keep changing. On a slightly different matter we have been each phoned on both days since our return and on the first day a young man arrived to check we were in our home. I will report any news as it happens.

I've had a phone call every day too. My day 5 test result is negative so I'm free to go to my office tomorrow. I suppose it's too much to hope that the phone calls will stop now.
It's too complicated & I really hope they simplify it soon. No help from the phone call people either even though they ask if you need any more info when I asked for clarification of something that she'd said she was unable to answer & just carried on with her script.

Glad to hear you have gained your freedom - at a price - so well done. If anyone is going through the 10 day quarantine, or has recently completed it, could you say if you had more than one visit checking on your presence at your place of quarantine. Thanks.

No visits for me, just a call every day at different times during the day. No phone call so far on Freedom Day 6

No visits here for either of us, just two really annoying phone calls everyday of someone reading a script out, send them off course with a question and it turns into a comedy……..

Only one call each for the last two days. Better news is that we have both received negative results for our day 2 tests, mine yesterday afternoon (day4) the other this morning. I think that just fits a reasonable turnaround. Now for the big test for day8. Waiting for the phone calls is very tedious. I keep the house phone in my pocket while mowing the lawn.
