Thanks for the link. We won’t need tests until we return to UK in November at the end of our Autumn trip starting in September. I read through the report and found in one of the last paragraphs mention of a company, Testing for All, that is currently offering day2 test for £48 and they seem to have good reviews. If the testing regime stays as it is we will consider using them. Boots may come up with a decent price. The easing of restrictions for fully vaccinated people removes the dreadful uncertainty of the day8 test to get out of jail so the pressure has been reduced considerably.

We initially intended using Expert Medicals as they were the cheapest but last night went with Randox and got a discount via Brittany Ferries, only noticed this morning that EM had been removed from the government approved list.

No it's not a scam (although some companies operating the test are clearly ineffectual or scammers). The purpose of the day 2 test is to catch anyone who became infected just prior to taking their pre-travel test (48-72 hours before travel). In that case your pre-travel test will show negative even though you are infected. It takes 4 days or so for the infection to multiply to the point where it will be picked up in a test. That is why there is a two day test. |It picks up those who were infected but passed the pre-travel test.
