No calls since my day 5 test. Going for day 8 today. I assume you are out of quarantine and back at work since you had a negative day6 test result.

Yes, I am. I went to work on day 6. I had a phone call today (day 8) I assume it was to check I had done the day 8 test, but when I answered there was no-one there. Day 8 result was negative so I should be ok to return to France next week (double vaccinated so no need for test to enter France - at the moment )

I thought even double vaxxed needed a PCR/Antigen 24 hours?

I will double check but I'm pretty sure I don't need a test & the less than 24 hr test is for unvaccinated.

Well that is good news, we had looked at that document, and assumed the bit at the bottom applied to all cases, so a test was needed, but looking again, maybe not. Has anyone here traveled yet under those conditions without a test certificate? We are planning to return in early Sept and this will be a bonus.

I think the bit at the bottom means an NB for those who require a test, ie those who aren't fully vaccinated and are over 12 years old.

Going back to the original theme of this thread I can now conclude my dealings with Expert Medicals and their day2/day8 test provision. I previously reported a fairly good performance for day2 followed by the start of a less favourable day8 test sequence. It has now finished with my receiving a negative test result yesterday which was day13, a wait of five days from my posting the return packages. My wife got her negative result on day11. My brief discussion with EM appeared to place the blame on the Post Office who delivered my wife’s package on day10 with the result sent to her on day11. At that time my package had not been received.
I am now wary of any testing through a postal system. I hope I do not need it again but at least the current rules would not require me to be confined for any period. I give EM 4 stars out of ten but if I had JD’s experience it would be one star for the late day2 results.

Elsie, the only problems with many of entries in the list is that they have no local bases for many people and more significantly there is little evidence of “money saving” except for the major travel groups. Thanks for link. It could be back to Boots for us even at a significantly higher price than the less reliable or competent companies.

I wouldnt even give them 1 out of 10 lurcher, just a rip off company in my view, the day 2 test and result is just immaterial, what use does it serve? Hopefully on my next return from france, the current rules still apply so the day 2 test can be with the cheapest provider as its bares no significance whatsoever unless i am missing something, i will not be quarantined on return, so don't have to worry about the test or result (unless its positive of course)

Many on the list are not cheap. It is more they seems to have tried to do some verification and reliability checking which is totally lacking on the government web page.

Ministers face call to intervene in “scam”
From the Guardian… ”The government is coming under pressure to intervene amid concerns that its Covid testing regime for travellers is close to collapse, with thousands failing to be properly tested on their return.”

I thought the day 8 test had stopped in UK and it was only the day 2 test required currently. But looking at Boots it still seems to say Day 2 and 8.
We're not planning to visit for more than 6 days in September (unless rules change again).

We're not planning to visit for more than 6 days in September (unless rules change again). It depends on whether you are fully vaccinated or not.. As I understand the rule is if fully vaccinated arriving in UK from Amber then 2 day test only…full details here
