www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-kent-57999224This is utterly disgraceful - not only hurling abuse at those so desperate to risk anything to go where they want, but in particular, abusing their own who out of pure dedication put themselves at risk to save lives. What sickens me more is the abuse is hurled by those with much less stature than the volunteers, probably Daily mail readers and of course followers of the greatest of all racists, the Patel woman. The RNLI get another fiver a month from me if it helps to continue their good work! Is it Priti Patel your meaning? I didn't know she was a racist never mind 'the greatest of all'. If she’s not she does a pretty good impression of one...

I would have thought (hoped) that anyone trying to enter the country illegally whether by boat or not would be treated as an illegal immigrant no matter what their nationality or colour.

Wow! I can see that you are a stalwart of the establishment Yes, you can charge them as illegal entrants, but not hamper them in their quest risking what they do. If you have ever crossed the channel in anything a lot smaller than a ferry, you will know it is not something you do lightly even with back up radios and epirbs. Why people might be at sea is not a question to be asked before rescue. The rescue services and those rescued from sea should not be subjected to abuse under any circumstance.

Yet people can’t see how the concept of letting immigrants in to do the menial tasks is in itself somewhat racist? What is racist in this? I want the infrastructure to work around me. If my own cannot do this, what is racist by inviting those in who want to make it all work. This was exactly why the Windrush generation were invited in. It was us who turned it into a racial issue.

I wasn't aware Priti Patel has hampered anyone from assisting these people, quite the opposite as it happens. I don't see how calling for all illegals to be treated the same makes me a 'stalwart of the establishment' to be honest.

These racist types - and I think there are more than many might think - and news rag writers, do they not watch the same news that we do. Crops rotting in the ground, supermarket shelves empty and the like, in main down to people shortage? Surely (I was going to say we, but I can't stand the place) everyone should do their best to integrate society so that all can benefit from each other? Bring back or introduce "chain gangs" to pick the fruit or vegetables. There is a whole population of brits sitting around doing nothing.. Put them to work.. MUKGA
There are also many non imprisoned brits who sit around and do nothing but still get a monthly check, let them do some picking to get that check.

Like uber eat riders (or other such companies) delivering mac dos for fat white people who can't be ars"ed to go to Mac Dos and buy it themselves. BTW...I am talking about Paris here.

Some British, too many in my opinion, are blind to the fact that Britain has instigated more global strife than most other countries and, in its quest to be relevant, continues to do so by its participation in conflicts where it has no business and its willingness to supply arms to aggressive regimes. If you refer to a human being as an illegal but not the actions of your government, you're part of the problem.

It is only racist if you tell other people (Brits) that they should not do these jobs. All the while there is freedom of opportunity equal to all you cannot call this racism - although I do understand the point you are making
