What Paris has or doesn't have is beside the point: you said the UK does it's (sic) bit above most and is far more welcoming - where's your proof of that? Criminalising the rescue of people stranded at sea and making those people liable to up to 4 years' imprisonment is far from 'welcoming'.
Except of course that migrants/Asylum Seekers/refugees have been going to the UK (illegally) since the mid 1990's.
Most of whom I guess have established a new life. In one way or another. That is quite welcoming.
Once upon a time there was a reception centre in sangatte which offered a lttle bit of dignity to these people trying to get to the UK.
That was until Sarkozy ordered its closure. So everyone had to go and live, poo and get murdered in a forest. Called the Jungle. Not very welcoming.
There were reports not so long ago that Gandarmes on the Italien border were knicking the shoes of migrants and sending them back to Italy. Not very welcoming.
In a rural village I know an disused covent school was earmarked for refugees. All but two villagers voted against the plan. The building remains empty. Not very welcoming.
Then we have this chap....
www.fdesouche.com/2021/01/14/besancon-lapprenti-boulanger-dorigine-guineenne-est-menace-dexpulsion-du-territoire-francais-son-employeur-veut-entamer-une-greve-de-la-faim/OK he has been allowed to stay, but only because of the uproar after the issue was highlighted on TV. But there are thousands of cases that don't.
Don't tell me the UK is not unwelcoming.
If you want to some one to blame for all this mess, look no further than the the EU establishment. They had the means, the money and the coordination to try and solve it on a European wide basis when the problem started. Have they ? No. They just chucked a lot of money at Greece to set up some hell camps.
It is not the UK's fault that peeps want to go to the UK. At some point, the UK will have to say no. We have done our bit. It has now become unsustainable. We don't have the resources.
