As most of you know I am married to a French man. He has been working away since Feburary and only coming home on weekends. When his age bracket was open for the vaccine it tooks me weeks on the internet to get him an appointment for the vaccine because it had to be late Friday or Saturday. Eventually I did. He went into work on the Monday and told his colleagues about it and they were horrified he had had it done!!!!! After a couple of days the two guys on his team also got appointments and had it done, now about 6 of them (out of 60 odd) have had. I have met many French people who wont have it. Today my hubbie has telephoned to say that someone on the site has been tested poss, not on their team, so they are all being tested tomorrow. He starts his holiday on Friday for 3 weeks , so I am hoping that he is neg so he can go out and relax and enjoy his holiday, if not it will be because stupid French people read misinformation and dont try to protect those around them - me not happy bunny

Macron went on TikTok and Instagram the other day to get the simple messages across to the younger French people about the vaccination, along the lines of: "Si vous ne la faites pas pour vous, faites-la pour vos proches" and "Le vaccin sauve des vies; le virus tue". I hope it works.

I’m currently sitting in GP’s waiting room. I’m still amazed at the 70 plus year olds waltzing in for their vaccination- where the **** have they been?

I hope it works. Figures for the numbers being vaccinated now suggest it is. There will always be 10-15% who continue to refuse but if everyone turns up for the appointments that they have made France will overtake the UK for the percentage of people fully vaccinated by the end of August.

Fully vaccinated ! Looking at thease stats... covidtracker.fr/France is a bit late in their vaccination programme. Three weeks ago that map (in the link) was pretty much green. We have the whole of August to go through with holidays. That map will turn purple everywhere.

Why does everything have to be about the UK and/or against France? Why not include Spain as I think they have bypassed both.
It is not a race..

Because most of us live in either UK or France, not Spain. Issues involving Uzbekistan or Tibet are of even lesser interest.

Don't worry, nobody is here to balance that debate. Talking of Covid, it is not looking too good in France according to Veran. He spoke a mo ago on BFM. Peeps on here can't blame Boris or Brexit for that.

I agree it isn't a race. I'm delighted that all countries are getting up to speed with vaccinations. Ireland and Denmark have also done well. It was always going to be the case that EU countries would catch up with the UK by summer, as their supplies of Pfizer came on line. France has specific issues with a high level of vaccine hesitancy but Macron's stick approach seems to be working. France has also been one of the first European countries to offer vaccination to anyone over 12 years old.

Seems you are able to book them now.

Peeps on here can't blame Boris or Brexit for that. I tried to find the interview but couldn't. Perhaps you would be kind enough to post a link to it. France and Spain, like the UK, are experiencing a wave of delta variant infections..just 4 weeks or so later. As with the UK hospitalizations are increasing but far less than would be the case before vaccination, and as in the UK, the majority of the people hospitalized are non vaccinated...perhaps why Macron is taking such a hard line on vaccination. France has also not fully relaxed Covid measures...hence masks are still obligatory and curfews have been reintroduced in places like Corsica, where they have high infection and low vaccination rate. I don't see France as being in any worse a place than anywhere else really...better than many countries worldwide...but until all countries get access to the vaccine Covid will be here.

Of course there are protests.,,when have there not been protests in France. There are protests in the UK every weekend as well. The proof is in the number of vaccinations that have been carried out since Macron announced that you couldn't go to a cafe without one, compared with before.
