We have decided to try and make this shuttle tomorrow, calling in at boots in Swindon on the way to the terminal, antigen results in 2 hours apparently, up at 0600 to pack and stuff……..

We started our trip to the UK today (as planned). Negative antigen tests this morning. Now stopped at Langon for the night. Very early start to be early for the ferry tomorrow. All required tests arranged for entry to the UK and return to France, including 48hrs after arrival to be released from quarantine.

Looks like truck tailbacks to me. On the other hand, it could be traffic flowing normally.

Hope all goes well for your journey. We hope to be travelling to Germany from France next week for Christmas and to see our one week old granddaughter. So glad they are in Germany and not the UK with all the hoops to jump through at present.

Bordel at Folkestone and Dover. Operation Stack in place, miles of truck tailbacks. Pcpa, do you have any link as to where you got this info please? I got it from my own eyes, well eye to be precise, I'm sorry that I cannot upload what I see to a website in order to give you a link
All traffic news I have looked at suggests your post may be incorrect with traffic flowing normally. Several miles of trucks queuing for both the Eurotunnel terminal and Dover Ferry Port as I described Are you being unnecessarily alarmist at a time when people travelling have enough to worry about ?
I was responding to Johhnys request for information, I'm so sorry if that is not acceptable to you.
My journey took 9 hours door to door instead of the usual 4.5, and today there was no excess of tourist traffic tomorrow and Saturday will be a very different story, they told me it has been like this all week, a big increase in trucks returning to the EU for Xmas and a staff shortage at the port & also it would seem Eurotunnel.
I only have a 90 minute drive on this side but others perhaps Johhny have 10 hour drives, as he asked I think its important that he be aware that arriving early might get him on his booked crossing, it didn't work for me.
Lindals brother returned to the UK via Eurotunnel today and his experience was like mine.

Are you being unnecessarily alarmist at a time when people travelling have enough to worry about ? Yes, it sounds like his mistake at missing the turnoff turned into complete hysteria at the ports for everyone ( fake news) I did not miss the turnoff.
Every vehicle on the 15.35 crossing which did not leave till 16.05 had like me been booked on the 14.00 and like me had to leave the port to re-enter, the truckies had waited far longer than the cars.
What was really galling was in the truck drivers reception where they had to create a new booking for me and many others it was 13.50 and she said "you have missed the 14.00 now" I said I had already accepted that, what she didn't know was that it was delayed and they hadn't even started embarquation, it left at 14.40 but we now had passes for the 15.35 and were in the lane for that only to have to sit and watch vehicles driving on to our booked crossing.
"Our" meaning myself and the other vehicles unfortunate to have booked with P&O.

It didn't cause a problem for car drivers on the approach to Dover other than a 40mph variable speed limit but it caused big problems in the port, they were swamped, DFDS and Irish Ferry customers had no problems getting to their check in booths, they were to the right of the majority of booths for trucks, P&O only had one booth but it was on the far left, all the cars had already passed 500m of 6 lanes of trucks at a standstill before they could see the gantry showing which lanes were for which ferry companies, impossible to drive sideways across 6 lanes of nose to tail stationary artics.
The big problem was at Eurotunnel from what I could see, the stack of trucks going back several miles was preventing vehicles from leaving at the Eurotunnel exit, those who tried the Police were directing towards Dover, I guess to come off at the next junction 1 go back 2 junctions and join the back of the stack of trucks, unless you can access the Eurotunnel terminal from the Easbound carriageway.
Years ago this happened to me and the diversion was via a village whose name I can't recall to access the terminal by a side entrance, maybe they will have that set up tomorrow.
I think that Eurotunnel must have had problems of their own which compounded things, perhaps a train stuck as I can't see why Lindals brother should have had the same problems travelling from France to the UK.
Because of the bordel the French border control were not actually checking passports, vaccination certificates & covid test results, if you held up something looking like a passport they said OK from a considerable distance , same with the vaccine certificate which is distinctive but could have been for someone else, the test result could have been a printed shopping list for all they knew.

Thanks, it was fine, I'm always prepared to miss a crossing because I always leave at the last minute not leaving any time for imprévus, this time though I got there 90 minutes before I needed.
I must check out Irish Ferries they had plenty of check in booths operational.

They are a lot cheaper than the robbing cartel of P&O and DFDS, 50% less than the best price I could get for today.
For obvious reasons they are not so cheap tomorrow but have a lot of availability.
A name to remember IRISH FERRIES
Fight the Pirates as Speedferries used to say.
