We are spending the weekend of the 24th in Nice to vote.. Although we normally cancel each votes out... If I understand your "English" correctly , you and your wife vote for different parties in the second round of the Presidential elections? So why bother voting ? our civic duty. Just like I have voted in my hometown & presidential elections for the past 20+ years as a resident of the EU...

28.1% vs 23.3% so hopefully that gap will widen drastically in the second round. Always does, the French vote with their hearts (so they say) in the first round, in the final round they vote with their heads. Macron Hopefully, but polls said she'd get up to 23% in the first round so that was pretty accurate and they have been predicting 48% in the second round, which is within the margin of error, so she may get in if the turnout isn't good.

I suspect like us, you have been here in France for a while, the last round over many years is almost unpredictable as far as percentage goes in early polls. Pretty accurate in the first round but final round is the time people think harder. Macron indeed may not get the landslide that the "Presidents" normally get against Le Pen, the Father, or Le Pen the Daughter but I think he will retain the Presidency.

I just said as much to my son but also said that she'd toned down her policies a lot in the last few years to try and be more acceptable than in the past but hopefully people will remember where she's coming from!

I would think that " far " anything at the moment is not the way to go , so MLP , no thank you , I voted Macron , not because I like the man , but we need stability

It's good to see my son and his friends talking about it and voting. I don't see the same political engagement happening with his cousins in the UK.

28.1% vs 23.3% so hopefully that gap will widen drastically in the second round. but with Mélenchon voters now supporting Le Pen, expect a women as your leader on the 25th.. He's called for his supporters to vote for Macron, saying 'we must not give one single vote to MLP'. 'French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday received the backing of the defeated Socialist, Communist, Green and conservative candidates in his second-round election battle later this month against far-right leader Marine Le Pen. Her only endorsement has come from her hard-right challenger Éric Zemmour.' 'French hardleft candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon simply called on his supporters not to vote for Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election that takes place on April 24. “We know for whom we will never vote ... you should not support Le Pen ... there must not be one single vote for Le Pen in the second round,” Mélenchon said in a speech to his supporters on Sunday.' www.france24.com/en/europe/20220410-french-socialist-green-right-wing-candidates-back-macron-in-election-run-off-against-le-pen

Yes she really did do a U turn or two on her previous election platform and people never really went for it, her Father just became angry about it all. Fingers crossed the number of people that have been told by the other parties to go with Macron comes to fruition in the final round.

The far right in Europe are well organised and she has taken a lot of money from Russia. She says no income tax for the under 30s cheaper cost of living and fuel bla bla bla. It's what anyone struggling wants to hear. I hope she does not win.

Mr. Mélenchon has only called for his supporters NOT to vote for LePen. He didn't say they should vote for Mr.Macron. Maybe they won't vote?
